Cybersecurity Netherlands
Cybersecurity engineering for organisations across the Netherlands.
From our base in Utrecht, we work with organisations nationally, supporting Dutch businesses through the regulatory and technical realities of NIS2, GDPR and ISO 27001, alongside the day-to-day work of securing identity, cloud, applications and AI, wherever in the country you're based.
Built for Dutch SMEs and mid-sized organisations, not just the enterprise
Most of the security consulting market is priced and structured for enterprises: long engagements, large teams, and a scope that assumes you already have an internal security function to work alongside. Most Dutch SMEs and scale-ups don't have that, and don't need an enterprise-sized answer to a right-sized problem.
We work as the senior security capacity a smaller organisation doesn't have in-house, starting with a focused assessment of what actually carries risk for a company your size (usually identity, email and cloud configuration, not an exotic threat), then building a roadmap you can actually resource, rather than a 40-page report that assumes a budget and headcount you don't have.
That's also where NIS2 has changed the picture: its expanded scope now pulls in a meaningful number of mid-sized Dutch companies that never had to think about formal security obligations before. If that's new territory, our NIS2 readiness guide is a practical place to start.
The Dutch regulatory landscape
NIS2's expanded scope has pulled a much wider range of Dutch organisations into formal cybersecurity risk-management obligations than the original NIS directive did, including many mid-sized companies that hadn't previously had to think about regulatory security requirements at all. Our NIS2 readiness guide covers this in detail.
GDPR continues to shape how Dutch organisations handle personal data, with security measures a core part of demonstrating compliance rather than a separate concern.
And ISO 27001 remains the most widely recognised way for Dutch companies to demonstrate security maturity to customers and partners, particularly in professional services, SaaS, and any B2B relationship where a customer's own security questionnaire asks for it. See our ISO 27001 readiness guide for the realistic path.
What we help Dutch organisations with
Cybersecurity consulting
Strategy, architecture and a roadmap sequenced by actual risk.
Security engineering
Implemented controls and detection content, not just recommendations on paper.
Cloud security
Azure, AWS and GCP configuration review and hardening, wherever your workloads run.
Microsoft security
Entra ID, Defender and Sentinel configured to enforce Zero Trust, not left on defaults.
Identity & access management
IAM, IGA and PAM for both human and machine identities.
Application security
Secure SDLC, code review and API security for teams shipping software.
DevSecOps
Security gates built into CI/CD without slowing engineering down.
AI security
Prompt injection, excessive agency and AI-specific threat modelling for LLM-powered features.
Penetration testing
Web, API, cloud and network testing with written authorisation and clear remediation guidance.
Vulnerability management
Risk-based prioritisation that turns a scan into a workflow, not a to-do list nobody finishes.
Security operations
SIEM engineering and detection content for Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Elastic and QRadar.
Governance, risk & compliance
ISO 27001 and NIS2 readiness with evidence generated as a by-product of running the programme.
Areas we serve
Our delivery model is remote-first by design, so location within the Netherlands isn't a constraint. Organisations we've worked with are based in and around:
Don't see your city listed? That's not a limitation: remote delivery means location within the Netherlands rarely changes how an engagement works.
Frequently asked questions
We're a small or mid-sized business without an internal security team. Can you still help?
That's most of who we work with. You don't need an in-house CISO or a security team for this to work. We act as that senior security capacity on a fractional basis, starting with what actually matters for your size and risk profile rather than a generic enterprise checklist.
What does a security engagement typically cost for a smaller Dutch business?
It scales with scope, not with a fixed enterprise price tag: a focused Microsoft 365 hardening review or a first NIS2 gap assessment for a 20-person company costs a fraction of a full security programme for a 500-person one. We scope to what you actually need and tell you honestly if something bigger isn't yet worth it.
We don't think we're a target for attackers. Do we really need this?
Most SME incidents we see aren't the result of being specifically targeted. They're opportunistic: a phished Microsoft 365 account, an exposed remote-access service, an invoice-fraud email. Attackers increasingly automate the search for exactly this kind of easy opening, which is precisely why smaller organisations without dedicated security staff are disproportionately affected.
Do you only work with organisations in Utrecht, or nationally too?
Utrecht is home, but the Netherlands is our primary commercial market. Most engagements are delivered remotely with in-person sessions arranged where useful, wherever in the country you're based, from Amsterdam and Rotterdam to Eindhoven and beyond.
Which Dutch and EU regulations do you help organisations with?
Most commonly NIS2, GDPR-driven security requirements, and ISO 27001, either working toward certification or aligning controls to the standard without pursuing formal certification.
We already use Microsoft 365 and Azure. Do you work with that, or push a different stack?
We work with what you already run. Microsoft security is one of our most common engagements precisely because so many Dutch organisations are already licensed for security capability they aren't yet using.
Do you provide application security or AI security consulting for Dutch software companies?
Yes. Application security and AI security are both core services, relevant to Dutch SaaS and technology companies shipping software or LLM-powered features to customers across the Netherlands and beyond.
Can you support organisations with multiple Dutch locations?
Yes. Most of our engagement model is remote-first by design, which scales naturally across multiple sites, whether that's offices in Amsterdam and Rotterdam or a fully distributed team.
Is a cybersecurity engineer different from a cybersecurity consultant?
In practice, we do both under one roof. A consultant typically produces strategy and recommendations; an engineer implements and configures the actual controls. Many Dutch organisations need both, which is why we don't separate the two into different teams.
Do you help with identity and access management (IAM) specifically?
Yes. IAM, IGA and PAM are core to how we work, since most access-related incidents trace back to identity gaps rather than exotic exploits. See our Identity & Access Management page for detail.
Do you build or improve SIEM and SOC capability (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Elastic, QRadar)?
Yes. Security operations and detection engineering work across whichever SIEM platform you've already invested in, most commonly Microsoft Sentinel for organisations standardised on the Microsoft stack.
Do you offer vulnerability management as an ongoing service, or only one-off scans?
Ongoing. Vulnerability management is about the workflow (discover, prioritise, remediate, retest), not a single scan. We can also support one-off assessments where that's genuinely what's needed.
